Father-Son Duo Launch $750M AUM Chicago RIA

A Chicago-based father and son duo have launched their own registered investment advisor with over $750 million in assets under management. Mark and Steven Resnik have teamed up to lead Burling Wealth Partners, which focuses on high-net-worth individuals and families.

Mark Resnik has over 30 years of industry experience, most recently as a principal at Geneva Advisors, which was acquired by CIBC Private Wealth in 2017. Prior to that, he served as a senior portfolio manager at Segall Bryant & Hamill. Prior to joining the industry, he was an attorney and CPA.

Steven Resnik joins from The Edgewater Funds, a private equity firm where he was a vice president.

“For over 30 years, Mark Resnik has had the honor and privilege to serve clients with a focus on providing tailored strategies to meet each client’s needs,” said Steven Resnik in a statement. “Having experienced first-hand the impact of industry consolidation, we are bucking the trend in creating a model with better alignment among the client, advisor, and firm.”

They’re joined by Young Im, who will serve as managing director and senior portfolio manager. Im previously spent 13 years as a senior investment professional at CI Segall Bryant & Hamill Asset Management. The team also includes Zachary Patzik, a former wealth advisor at RMB Capital, who will serve as managing director and senior wealth advisor, and Abby Davis, a former senior client service manager for CIBC Private Wealth, managing director of client services.

The firm will use Fidelity and Schwab for custody, according to its Form ADV.
